A winter much milder than that of 2018 is expected this year in Greece and the Balkans, according to long-term forecasting meteorological models.
American AccuWeather – best known for its partnerships with mobile phone applications – has released its annual report for the winter of 2019 – 2020 in Europe, forecasting a mild winter for Greece.
Referring to Greece in particular, the report says that the weather during the winter this year will not be like the winter of 2018 – 2019.
AccuWeather’s forecast for this winter matches the predictions made by the corresponding ECMWF report (European Center for Mid-Term Weather Forecasts), which also indicates that winter in Europe, and in the Balkans, will be milder.
This means that temperatures in Greece will be above normal during the winter months.
More specifically, the first half of winter could be considered as ‘hot’, as an active trail of thunderstorms will remain far from Greece and will be active in northern Europe.
