The forecast of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), in accordance with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), shows that the June-August period will be much warmer compared to the same period in recent years.
Even though the second half of May and the first days of June were unusually cold for this time of the year, experts predict that the next few months will be warmer than in previous years.
The phenomenon will be particularly apparent in the Balkans, where temperatures are expected to increase by up to 2 degrees compared to normal summer temperatures.Similar weather conditions are expected in much of Turkey, northern Italy and parts of the Iberian Peninsula.
On Thursday, the Mediterranean Climate Outlook Forum of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released the weather forecast for the summer season in Mediterranean countries. According to the weather forecast, higher temperatures than normal are expected.
As noted on the EMY website, the reliability of the weather forecast based on the above models is still low and does not exceed 70-75 percent, however, it gives a satisfactory prediction.
